07.01.2022 6th week of the City-sponsored Farmers’ Field School (FFS) on PalayCheck System at Sitio Kaingalan, Brgy. La Granja. This is to guide farmers on crop pests with this week’s topics:

1. Defoliators such as leaf feeders and their characteristics, symptoms, damage and control management.

2. Rodents. Their characteristics, symptoms, damage and control management, cultural, biological, chemical and mechanical.
Acting as facilitators were Lester Tadlan and Eva dela Cruz, assisted by Jason Dionisio, Ronnie Bermudo, Catherine Obillos, Jerilyn Estama, and LFT Jasper Bibaoco with Office of the Provincial Agriculturist representative Von Galvan.

07.14.2022 8th week session of the Farmers’ Field School on PalayCheck System at Sitio Kaingalan, Brgy La Granja.
This week’s activity is the conduct of Agro Ecosystem Analysis (AEsA) where farmers learn how to observe the crop, how to analyze the field situation and how to make the proper decisions for their crop management.
 
learn the relation of plant health to its environment.
Topics on stem borers, kinds, life cycle, damage, symptoms, control and management were also discussed.
 
The training is being facilitated by Lester Tadlan, Rice Program Coordinator with Eva S. dela Cruz, Organic Agriculture Focal Person and assisted by Catherine C. Obillos, AEW for Brgy La Granja and Jerilyn Estama, OA Demo Farm staff.
 
The activity was also attended by 2nd year Agriculture students of La Carlota City College, as observers.

07.19.2022 Validation of the proposed Solar Powered Irrigation System Project for the rice farmers of Sitio Danao, Brgy Haguimit.
This activity was conducted in response to the request of the Danao Farmers’ Association for an irrigation system as endorsed by the City Agriculture Office.
 
It was initially surveyed earlier this year by the OPA-Agricultural Engineering Division and was immediately proposed to DA-Region 6.
 
The regional level validation was conducted by Engr. Marion Tagle of DA-RAED with Rolando Ortega, Chairman of the Association and Brgy Kgwd. Peter Bogsangit.
 
On the same day, the Final Inspection of Nailab Spring Development Project located in Sitio Nailab, Brgy. Ara-al, was also conducted
by Engr. Tagle.
 
Engr. Romelyn Semillano, CAO Agri Engineering Focal Person facilitated the activity with Micah Salgado and Georgimar Villanueva, AEW of Brgy Haguimit, assisting.

07.26.2022 Mangkas Agri attends farmers meetings, conducts HVCC Crop Insurance enrollment at Brgy Yubo.

Georgimar Villanueva, HVCC Program Coordinator; Rica G. Yabeya and Micah Juguan Salgado enrolled farmers to the program while Hernanie Mondia conducted data gathering and enlisting farmers to the coffee production project. Maximo Villahermosa, President of the Sitio Parkingan farmers, assisted in the activity. Corn seeds from Ronald Colmenares, Corn Program Coordinator, were also distributed.

Meanwhile, City Agriculturist Grignion L. Rosales and Marie Cris Lodovice, RBO Coordinator and AEW assigned at Brgy Yubo attend the monthly meeting of Yubo Women Farmers’ Association together with Laine Ortega of OPA, SP JanJan Abad and Jocelyn Magno of CSWDO. The meeting was to assist the association into a smooth transition to its new leadership and project management.
Attendance to these meetings are regular activities of Mangkas Agri to disseminate the DA and LGU programs and projects to the local farmers.
