The La Granja Farm School (LGFS), a newly established public rural farm school in La Carlota City, represented by Dr. Neri Anne Alibuyog, Schools Division Superintendent and the Philippine Carabao Center at La Carlota Stock Farms represented by Ms. Eva Rom, Center Director, signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) in a ceremonial MOA signing ceremony held last July 27 at La Granja National High School.
The MOA intends to promote sustainable agricultural productivity and rural development by empowering the human capital in the countryside through access to avenues of learning suited to the needs and realities of the rural agricultural communities as what was stipulated in Republic Act 10618, otherwise known as Rural Farm School Act.
The PCC and LSF agreed to provide necessary assistance to the LGFS such as orientation related to the local Carabao Development Programs, actual observation of teachers and students on its farm operations, and field visitations, among others.
Through this partnership, students of La Granja Farm School will gain facilitative and experiential agricultural skills, and will be able to enhance them as a preparation to the challenges of employment, entrepreneurship or higher education after graduation.
The event was also graced by SP member Fini Jalandoni, Chairman on Committee on Education; Schools Division Superintendent; Dr. Bernie Libo-on, Schools Division Assistant Superintendent; Mrs. Leilani Castillo, School Governance and Operations Division Chief; Mr. Melgar Coronel, Chief Education Supervisor of Curriculum Implementation Division; Bernadette Doronila, School Principal; Ms. Jeanalyn Jamison, Farm School Division Focal Person; City Agriculture Office Head Grignion Rosales, and Ms. Amelyn del Rosario, Farm School PTA President.
Also present in the MOA signing were SP members Janjan Abad and Stephen Simbit, Brgy. Captain Doloroso Maguad, PTA Federation President Wilbert Solina, and Agriculturist Victor Geroche.
