The City Government of La Carlota headed by Mayor Rex R. Jalando-on, thru the City Tourism Office, officially opened the Tourism Week 2022 celebration today, September 12 at the City Public Plaza during Monday’s flag-raising ceremony.

Revolving around the theme “Rethinking Tourism” which is also in line with the World Tourism Day celebration slated on September 27, the City Tourism Department headed by Ms. Karen Aguirre prepared a series of activities from September 12-15.

Among the activities lined up are Two-Man Tandem Mountain Bike Race, Dog Walk, Tourism Fair, Frontline Skills Training, Search for Miss Tourism 2022, and Tourism Rhythm Competition.

SP member Fini Alonso Jalandoni, Chairwoman of the SP Committee on Tourism, acknowledged the deeper essence of the celebration.

“Ang aton syudad madamo gid sang mga tourism areas nga pwede ipadayaw and ipasundayag, so much to offer in terms of nature wonders, and history. And more than anything, we also have many talented La Carloteños,” she said in her speech.

She also highlighted the socio-economic relevance of the city’s tourism industry and encouraged everyone to do three things: (1) Support local; (2) Encourage restaurant and inn owners to register as an accredited DOT Tourism Establishment; and (3) Like and Share City Tourism Office Facebook Page.

The Opening Program was followed by the Ribbon Cutting of Tourism Fair and Dog Walk.

Candidates for Miss Tourism 2022 were also presented during the program.

Tourism Fair Opens in La Carlota

In line with the celebration of Tourism Week 2022, the City Government of La Carlota, thru the City Tourism Office, organized a four-day Tourism Fair at City Public Plaza grounds on September 12-15.
 
Mayor Rex R. Jalando-on and Chairman of SP Committee on Tourism Fini Jalandoni, together with members of the City Council and department heads, officially inaugurated the Tourism Fair last September 12 during the celebration’s opening program.
 
The Tourism Fair showcases the products of local agricultural farmers and poultry producers, delicacy and native food makers, and ornamental plant enthusiasts.
 
Another attraction is the exhibit of masterpieces and crafts of Mangkasanon artists, live sketching, face painting, and skin art.
 
This year’s celebration revolves around the theme “Rethinking Tourism.”
All Mangkasanons are invited to visit the Tourism Fair and support local.
 

City Holds Mangkas Dog Walk 2022

Dog lovers and their pets once again walked the city streets during the “Mangkas Dog Walk 2022” last September 12, in line with the celebration of Tourism Week 2022.
Around 102 dogs of various breeds and 87 pet owners joined the event which was organized by the City Tourism Office, in collaboration with the City Veterinary Office (CVO).
Dogs that participated in the dog walk received dog food from Top Breed. They were received free veterinary consultation, anti-rabies vaccination, and deworming.
 
This activity used to be organized annually by the CVO and has been a huge part of Pasalamat Festival celebration in the past years before the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
During the Pasalamat Festival Dog Walk last April 27, 2019, over 100 dogs accompanied by their owners participated in the event.
 
The Dog Walk aims to promote responsible pet ownership among Mangkasanons.
 

City Hosts Mountain Bike Race

The City Government of La Carlota, thru the City Tourism Office hosted a 2 Man Tandem Mountain Bike Race last September 11 as a part of the celebration of Tourism Week 2022.
The competition was composed of three categories: Male-Male (27), Male-Female (11) and Female-Female (3) wherein a total of 41 pairs participated.
The pairs who dominated the race were:

2nd Place – Remo De Oca & PJ Ignacio
3rd Place – Regielan Moleno & Roniever Trocio
• Male- Female
1st Place – Jay Morales & Urika Dawn Iwayan
2nd Place – Richard Rivera & Jwyn Sardua Muyco
3rd Place – Clyde Gachao & Mechaela Veloso
• Female – Female
1st Place – Janiree Dacles & Athena Sonota
2nd Place – Danna Barizo & Shanelle Trinidad
3rd Place – Mai Goles & Tin Lim
 
The Mountain Bike Race was only a preliminary activity for this year’s celebration. The Tourism Office has prepared various activities to promote the local tourism industry of La Carlota from September 12-15 and all La Carloteños are highly encouraged to join, watch, and show their support.
 
This year’s celebration is anchored on the theme “Rethinking Tourism.”
