The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) and representatives of the City Government of La Carlota held the first ever PRC Council Meeting last February 15, 2022 at the Brgy. III Health and Day Care Center located at the People’s Park at Uriarte Subdivision, this city.

The meeting was held after the Sangguniang Panlungsod of La Carlota City authorized Mayor Rex R. Jalando-on to sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the PRC to establish a PRC Branch in the city under the former’s Blood Samaritan Program.

A pet project of Doc Rex, the counter-parting agreement allows the LGU to shoulder the processing fee of La Carlota residents who want to avail of donated blood from the PRC. The agreement also guarantees that there will always be available blood for the city.

La Carlota City is required to have an intensive blood donation campaign through the barangays so that it will always have a sufficient blood allocation.

The program has already started. La Carlota residents or patients who need blood may coordinate with their respective barangays for the requirements documents and facilitation.

Mayor Rex designated Ian Canlas as the LCC Blood Coordinator.
